The Best Things

I can’t even call it one of the best things about working for Knitcircus. The best things are that the culture is so very welcoming and nurturing. The best things are that they’re good at finding out what people are good at, and giving them projects that can help them shine, and finding out areas where they want to grow but don’t have those skills yet, and mentoring them while they develop those skills. The best things are that I get to meet my knitting heroes and hang out with them like it’s the most natural thing in the world. The best thing is that I get to take the patterns I’ve been improvising, and make inroads into publishing them (even if none of them are ready yet). The best thing is that when I invent a completely new way to dye yarn, I retain the intellectual property for it, for when/if I decide to open up a dyeing business of my own.

But I’m really happy that, after looking for a few months for the perfect combo of base and color, and coming up short, I get to just buy some naked base, and am reasonably certain that we can give it the right color in house- and then it gets to be a store sample and I can wear it to the conventions that I rock so much at.
